The effective date of the 2009 International Residential Code (IRC), recently adopted by the State of Connecticut, was February 28, 2014. AIA Connecticut is pleased to offer members another session of a program that will illuminate aspects of the new code and review changes in the 2013 Connecticut Supplement. If you have not attended one of the earlier, 2013 sessions, don’t miss this opportunity!

Tim York, Building Inspector for the Town of Colchester, will review some of the essential changes in the new code and in the draft supplement. Tim is past president of the Connecticut Building Officials Association (CBOA), Connecticut representative to the New England Building Officials Education Association, member of the National Fire Protection Association Building Code Development Committee, and member of the State Sprinkler Task Force. He has presented programs on the 2009 IRC to many audiences.

Among the topics that Tim will cover are changes from the 2003 IRC in the areas of Energy Efficiency; Building Planning; Foundations and Floors; Wall Construction and Wall Coverings; Roof Assemblies; Vents; Exhaust; and Duct Systems.
