Designing with Insulated Precast Concrete Walls

Designing with Insulated Precast Concrete Walls

1 HSW hour

A Lunchtime Learning Program

Vin Callahan and Roy Schweitzer from Weaver Precast will help you to understand the structural requirements from both the manufacturer and the building code in order to design buildings using insulated precast concrete walls. Participants will learn how to find the available resources to help them specify insulated precast concrete walls in their future projects.

Insulated precast concrete wall systems are a unique alternative to traditional construction methods. Insulated precast concrete walls can be used for foundations, frost walls, and above grade applications. With unparalleled construction speed, most home foundations using these wall systems can be constructed in less than one day. This course will cover the basics of concrete as a construction material and will show how precast wall systems are manufactured and constructed while discussing their many features and benefits.  Topics for discussion will be energy efficiency, resource efficiency, structural loads, construction methods, life safety code requirements, installation methods, quality control, green building, and design versatility.
