Canstruction

Canstruction®

Canstruction® is a deliciously inventive charity program which inspires teams comprised of school children and architectural firms to work together to raise awareness of the national and worldwide hunger epidemic. It combines charity and the innovative spirit of creativity in a very unique design and build competition. Teams design and build extraordinary structures using canned foods as their primary building material. The self-supporting works of art can be as large as ten feet tall, with the colors of product labels becoming the artists’ palette. Building blocks, as small as tiny tuna cans and as big as industrial-sized tomato sauce containers, are creatively incorporated into the designs. At the conclusion of the event all the food items are donated to the Connecticut Food Bank and Foodshare.
