Defining a Case for Electrification

This course will provide AEC professionals with an overview and a primer for electrification. It will provide an understanding of the present situation in CT and the New England region. Presenters will explore the Inflation Reduction Act, what is included in the act, and how that can translate in the AEC profession. Presenters will also discuss the role of architects is in the design of projects and how they can educate their clients. Attendees will come away with a better understanding of current electrification standards and will be able to have the discussions needed to promote change and set examples for their projects and clients.
Learning Objectives
- Define what electrification is and why we need it, and to summarize the benefits of building electrification
- Provide the information necessary to understand why the AEC industry should be advocating for electrification
- Explain the equity involved with electrification and why it is important
- Define what the grid is, how it works, and whether the grid can handle electrification
- Define and explain what ISO New England is
