The Impact of Artificial Intelligence in the AEC Industry

The Impact of Artificial Intelligence in the AEC Industry

Join us for a transformative journey into the immediate future of the architecture, engineering, and construction industry, as we explore the groundbreaking role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in shaping our built environment.

Although Artificial Intelligence has been around for decades, it’s only in the last few years that the applications have been growing at a substantial rate of access. Architects are concerned about how this will impact the built environment and the profession.

This presentation will include a look into the evolution of AI, with a particular focus on the impact of ChatGPT and similar Large Language Models (LLMs) on design, the profession, and concerns that the over-reliance on AI may prioritize technical efficiency over human aspects of design.

What are the implications of inherent biases in LLMs on designing for the public? Could AI hallucinations create unsafe buildings? What does a reliance on generative AI portend for the future of the built environment? This session is crucial for anyone in the field to understand how these applications may help or hinder designing the built environment and how architects can be watchdogs on AI applications.
