Marc Rivard, PE, SE,  WoodWorks – Wood Products Council

Marc is a licensed Structural and Professional Engineer in California, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and received his BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from UMass Amherst. Marc is the WoodWorks Regional Director for New England. He works directly with developers and design teams, providing education and free technical support related to the design, engineering and construction of commercial and multi-family wood buildings. A licensed Structural and Professional Engineer, he has knowledge to assist with all aspects of wood building design, including allowable heights and areas and construction types, structural detailing of wood and hybrid systems, fire resistance, acoustics, and alternate means of code compliance.

Matthew Hunter, BCO Northeast Regional Manager, American Wood Council

Matt is the Northeast Regional Manager for the American Wood Council, which produces internationally recognized design standards for wood construction. His experience includes all phases of commercial and residential land development, building inspection, plan review, and civil engineering.

Prior to joining the AWC, Matt was a Building Code Official, Sewage Enforcement Officer, and civil engineering designer, draftsman, and field inspector for fifteen (15) years.  He has worked in the trades as a residential framing carpenter.  He is currently a certified Building Code Official and holds a total of twelve (12) International Code Council (ICC) and PA Labor and Industry certifications.

Since joining the AWC, Matt has provided extensive continuing education training and outreach on all aspects of wood construction, Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) and Mass Timber buildings to building code and fire official organizations, as well as State and Federal entities like the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, The New York City Department of Buildings, and the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs in Washington, DC.
