National Committee Members from AIA CT

Serving AIA National at the Local Level

Paolo Campos, AIA
2024 -2026
Strategic Council Representative

The Strategic Council advances the profession by informing the Board of Directors and other Institute bodies of important professional issues and opportunities. The Council is charged with surveying the profession to identify opportunities and threats, and engaging in strategic planning to inform the goals, objectives, and strategies of the AIA. In 2019, the Council was instrumental in the development of the AIA 2021-2025 Strategic Plan.

To ensure the continued relevance of the work of the Institute, the Council meets in assembly to deliberate and forms small groups to explore topics based on the Institute's strategic objectives, and from that work develops recommendations for the Board's consideration.

Karin Patriquin, AIA
SFx Representative

The Small Firm Exchange (SFx) seeks to advance the mutual interests of architects practicing in small firms. The group advocates for the value of small firms within the AIA and out in public. It also promotes business development, marketing, and leadership development. AIA CT SFx focuses on the national mission at a local scale, engaging and supporting small firms practicing in Connecticut,

The objectives of the AIA SFx are three-fold:

  1. Advocate the value of small firms, the national SFx, and local SFx groups, both within the AIA and to the public.
  2. Curate and disseminate the most pertinent resources and information from the AIA & elsewhere that benefit small firms.
  3.  Inform the AIA of current issues facing small firms and areas in which current resources/information are lacking.

Andrew Gorzkowski, AIA
Young Architect Representative

The Young Architects Forum is the voice of architects in the early stages of their careers and the catalyst for change within the profession and our communities. Working closely with the AIA College of Fellows and the American Institute of Architects as a whole, the YAF is leading the future of the profession with a focus on architects licensed less than 10 years.

YAF programs, activities, and resources serve young architects by providing information and leadership, promoting excellence through fellowship with other professionals, and encouraging mentoring to enhance individual, community, and professional development.

Andrew Barnett, Associate AIA
National Associates Committee Representative

Since 2000, the National Associates Committee has been dedicated to representing and advocating for Associates, both mainstream and non-traditional, in the national, state, and local components of the AIA.

By promoting excellence, providing information and leadership, fostering inclusiveness, and encouraging individual, community, and professional development, the NAC strives to integrate the growing associate community of the profession into a strong voice within the American Institute of Architects.
