Don Doeg is shareholder of the law firm of Updike, Kelly & Spellacy, P.C., where he devotes the majority of his practice to construction and design law and concentrates on representing design professionals. He chairs the firm’s construction law practice group and co-chairs the litigation section of the firm. Mr. Doeg is also a Professional Engineer.
Louis Free, AIA, NCARB is a licensed architect with 39 years of experience, is a Vice President with AECOM working from both the Rocky Hill, Connecticut and Boston, Massachusetts offices. For the past 33 years Lou has been one of two architects serving on the 21-member State Codes and Standards Committee. He served a three-year term as Chair of the State Codes and Standards Committee beginning in 1999 and was re-elected as Chair for 2011. He has an in-depth knowledge of current codes and was actively involved in preparation of the 1994, 1999, 2005, 2009, 2016, 2018 and soon to be adoption 2022 editions of the Connecticut State Building Code. Since 2003, he has been Chair of the Codes Amendment Subcommittee working directly with the Office of State Building Inspector and Office of State Fire Marshal on the writing and adoption of the state building and fire safety codes.
