  • Advocates for the rights of all Connecticut architects.
  • Actively represents the profession at the state legislature and with state agencies, as well as at the federal level on issues vital to architects, such as licensing, contracts, building code requirements, sales tax, and various design and construction related issues.
  • Protects the use of the term “Architect” from use by unlicensed individuals or businesses.
  • Proactively introduces legislation to benefit the profession when the opportunity arises.
  • Provides continuing education seminars and programs required for maintenance of licensing and NCARB status.
  • Develops seminars and programs to enhance members’ knowledge of innovations and technological advances in the practice of architecture.
  • Offers continuing education programming at member discount prices, and occasionally at no cost to members, to provide the minimum required continuing education hours required for AIA membership.
  • Offers over 100 hours of continuing education programming each year. These CE hours mirror the requirements of most states or are in excess of state requirements.
  • Alliances and coalesces with other industry groups to achieve shared goals. Industry groups include:

    • Offers AIA Documents and Code Books at a member discount, as well as free document information from AIA.
    • Distributes electronic notice of request for proposals on public projects and any projects for which AIA CT receives notification.
    • Provides an avenue for AIA Connecticut Fellows to share their experiences and insights on the practice of architecture with chapter members and offer their time as mentors.
    • Partners with National Purchasing Partners (NPP) so your company and employees can access exclusive discounts on a variety of products and services.
  • Special Recognition
    • Offers outreach programs that recognize a variety of architectural achievements and that value architectural services.
    • Promotes Award programs including Design, Alice Washburn, Elizabeth Mills Brown, Emerging Professionals, Public Service, and more.

    • Organizes tours and programs throughout the year that afford an opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with your peers.

    • Lists all AIA Connecticut members on the website which receives approximately 3,000 visits per month. Many visitors are seeking architectural services.

    • Features members news and information that is pertinent to the profession in ARCHITYPE, AIA Connecticut ‘s digital magazine that is published eleven times each year.
    • Lists members in the print AIA Connecticut Annual Membership Directory that is distributed to the membership.
    • Offers a subscription to Architect magazine, the official magazine of AIA National.
