Established in 1952, the College of Fellows comprises AIA members elected to Fellowship by their peers, representing one of the highest honors bestowed by the AIA.
Fellowship not only acknowledges the individual architect’s accomplishments but also raises those who have made notable contributions to architecture and society before the public and the profession.
AIA Connecticut Fellows are pleased to provide chapter members with details on Fellowship requirements and processes and examples of recent successful submissions from AIA Connecticut members.
Chapter members are encouraged to indicate their interest by contacting AIA Connecticut’s Executive Director, Gina Calabro.
An initial meeting will be arranged with an advisory panel composed of AIA Connecticut Fellows. Should the candidate decide to pursue a Fellowship, the panel may provide guidance in refining materials during meetings held throughout the year. Submissions from individuals who have consulted with the advisory panel will be submitted with the endorsement of the Chapter President or Secretary, so a formal petition is not necessary.
In the case of a nomination by petition, every member in good standing must print and sign their name on the petition form. Moreover, the nominee’s component must be informed of the petition nomination.
Applicants in their second and third years can utilize the nomination form from their first year. Each candidate must receive a nomination from their designated chapter or through a petition signed by any 5 Fellows in good standing or any 10 AIA members in good standing.
